Create Building Blocks of
Success
John describes himself as an
Urban Adventurist™; someone who looks at everything in
life as an adventure. This characteristic contributed to
his success in marketing, sales, leadership, motivation,
strategy, the
military, and sports, and he faced these diverse
challenges with the vigor of a triathlete. Achievement
is like a triathlon; it takes more than one talent to
succeed.
When explaining the building
blocks of his success, John will often refer to a
20-year study of Harvard graduates. It shows that only
3% of the graduates generated 93% of the wealth. “The
successful 3% did something that you can do too.” says
John.
In his keynote speeches,
John demystifies the elements of success. He explores
emergent leadership thinking and reflects on his own
adventures as he sets out the building blocks for any
achievement. He encourages the audience to re-engage
their sense of adventure. His
humorous stories put challenge into perspective and
remind us that we are all made of the right stuff. John
provides powerful tools in a high adrenalin,
entertaining format.
Anyone can . . .
Follow the Way of the Urban
Adventurist™ to the top.

Success (see

The KISS program
takes a unique look at Goal Setting. Not only
does it look at “SMART” Goals, but also provides
tools and techniques to keep attendees on track.
Most people that attend seminars of this nature
leave energized and ready to take on the world,
only to find that somewhere between good
intentions and final results, life gets in the
way.
This KISS
workshop expands on the ideas presented in the
Keynote, and builds on the fundamentals of Goal
Setting in several of life's, "Balance Areas"
Find out what top
performers do to stay on track and leave with
the tools to achieve your life’s goals.
Suitable for all audiences and can be customized
for youth and young adults.
Networking for Fun and
Profit
Most of us have
heard the phrase “it’s not what you know, but
who you know”. It stands to reason that the more
people you know, the greater your potential in any
part of your life. Effective networking can give
you the advantage in most of life’s situations. Networking for Fun and Profit
looks at why we should network, how to do it
effectively, and how to have fun doing it.
Whether your
trying to increase sales, find new suppliers,
improve pricing, get better service on household
or personal items or find that elusive job, or
career, some connections are inherently more
productive than others. We'll talk about about
how to identify and nurture the stronger
connections.
This program is suitable for most audiences.
Military Leadership in a
Business World
(see related Keynote► )
Many people
confuse discipline with leadership. Whether it's
in the army, business, or a volunteer
organization, the principles of leadership and
the characteristics of the leader remain the
same. John takes his 14 years of Military
leadership and combines it with over 20 years of
Business and volunteer leadership to bring you
powerful leadership tools for greater results.
Learn how to take the best of military
leadership practices and apply them in your
life. By
applying the skills and techniques learned in
this workshop you will be able to lead teams and
organizations to greater results.
Effective Communications
At the core of
all effective communications, whether verbal or
written, is an understanding of the relationship
between the transmitter and the receiver.
This program looks at what constitutes effective
communications and how to make all types of
communication work more effectively. We address
problems that can contribute to communication
breakdown and failure and how to correct them.
With the continued reliance on e-mail as a
communication tool, special emphasis will be put
on this area.
The Art of Powerful
Presentations
Whether doing
presentations at work or at school; being able
to not only hold the audience’s attention, but
to effectively get your message across is vital.
There are specific elements of writing and
delivering a good speech that are learned
traits. Each of these will be covered in this
session in an interactive and humorous manner.
From using props to pauses, from vocal variety
to gestures, even how to use humour to keep your
audience with you is covered.
At some time or another, the majority of us are
asked to do a
presentation. In a 1989 study by Christine
Stewart, the fear of public speaking was ranked
as the # 1 fear of Americans, ahead of death and
financial ruin. Learn how to overcome this fear
and develop the skills required to make your presentations
more
memorable and powerful.
Making an Impact
Every person has
the ability to make a positive impact not only
on themselves, but also on others. In his
Keynote speech, "Making An Impact", John Rich
looks at the way we have been conditioned from
birth by those of influence around us. Our
family, teachers, friends, and acquaintances all
make an impact on our lives. The unfortunate
reality is that it is often a negative "impact".
John helps us flip our thinking to a "can-do"
attitude and gives us the tools to truly make an
impact on the lives of those around us; our
employees, coworkers, candidates, family and
friends. From the Pavlovian studies on
conditioning, to modern day training, we have
learned how to influence decisions and even
attitudes by rewarding behavior. Too often we
fail to reward positive behavior, but punish
negative behavior. "Making an Impact" is about
understanding the connection we have with those
that we interact with and learning to influence
performance by empowering others.
By the end of this Keynote,
- Attendees
will understand how people are influenced
and conditioned.
- Attendees
will also learn about the connection between
reward and performance and how to use it to
create an environment of excellence.
- Attendees
will learn how to empower others to perform
to their optimum capabilities and to take on
greater challenges.
